We will be presenting at ASHA in Washington DC this year! Hope to see you there!

1-Hour seminar presentations:

Personalizing Anomia Interventions for Individuals with Primary Progressive Aphasia

Mara Steinberg Lowe, Amy Vogel-Eyny

This session is developed by, and presenters invited by, Acquired Cognitive Communication Disorders. This talk will review anomia treatments for individuals with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), a neurodegenerative condition marked by progressive language decline. We will review evidence-based approaches across impairment-based interventions, compensatory supports, and communication partner training and provide case examples of adapting interventions across disease progression.

Aphasia throughout the Research Lifecycle: Ethical and Institutional Considerations in Partnership and Participation

E. Susan Duncan, Amy Vogel-Eyny, Bernadine Gagnon, Jessica Sholomenko, Mara Steinberg Lowe

This session, by the BrainNYC collaborative, emphasizes the importance of creating accessible avenues for including people with aphasia in research.

Poster presentations:

Developing a Personalized Anomia Training Program for PPA: Feasibility and Initial Outcomes

Amy Vogel-Eyny, Mara Steinberg Lowe, Rachel Desir

This poster will present initial outcomes from a clinical trial designed to evaluate the feasibility, usability, and effectiveness of an intervention that combines a personalized, intensive and established language training program (Lexical Cascade Treatment) with a computer-based SRT program (Anki) for individuals with PPA.

Expanding Dementia Cafés to Redefine Inclusion

Rebecca Wellner, Mara Steinberg Lowe, Sarah Goldberg-O'Neil

This poster will discuss principles of dementia cafés, highlight interdisciplinary roles, and explore expansion of the model to create inclusive, sustainable community hubs. We will examine the ways in which dedicated dementia-inclusive spaces could offer sustained opportunities for socialization, learning, and meaningful contribution, reducing stigma and promoting community engagement.
