This study examined longitudinal changes in discourse measures and associated changes in cortical thickness in a large sample of individuals with three clinical variants of primary progressive aphasia (PPA). The findings provide insight into how discourse production is underpinned by a network that extends beyond classic language regions, with morphosyntactic elements of discourse associated with regions involved in domain-general cognitive skills such as error-monitoring and elaborative encoding. These findings can inform assessment, prognosis, and intervention for communication through the PPA disease course.
